Why do we give?

Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the first of all your produce.”  Jesus taught that our money is an indicator of our hearts.  Paul taught that if we are loved by God and love Him in return we will give cheerfully, sacrificially, and regularly.

Meadowbrook believes that God is the owner of everything, including our money and possessions.  When we give, we give back to God what He already owns.  Our giving is an indication of trust, discipleship, and commitment.

How does my giving support the church?

Meadowbrook prepares and adopts an annual budget.  The budget is carefully prepared by the staff, church committees, and ministry leaders with detailed planning spanning many months.  The budget is an operating tool that guides our church in ministry, missions, and operations.  It is important that every member and attendee understand their God-given role in supporting the financial needs of the church through systematic giving (tithing) to the church.

How may I give systematically?

At Church.  You may give your gift, cash or check, during the offering at worship or during Sunday School.  Envelopes are available for you to complete to ensure you receive credit for your gift.

By Mail.  You may mail your gift to 1207 N Old Robinson Rd, Robinson, TX  76706

By Electronic Bank Draft/ACH.  See below.

By Online Billpay.  You may utilize your banks online bill pay service to create a systematic payment to Meadowbrook.

Stay tuned for the possible option of additional electronic giving opportunities.

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in my house, and thus put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts; see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.”  Malachi 3:10

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  Matthew 6:19-21

“Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."  2 Corinthians 9:7

The Bible teaches us that giving of our financial resources is not only an obligation that we have to God, but is also an instrument of blessing to be returned to us.  The Old Testament is clear that we are to give one-tenth of our income back to God.  The New Testament goes further to state that we are to give out of our abundance.  Meadowbrook Baptist Church recognizes the Biblical mandate of the tithe as the standard for giving towards our general budget, and encourages every member to strive towards this goal.  Gifts towards designated funds, mission projects not provided for in the general budget, etc. should be thought of as additional giving beyond the tithe.  The tithe should not be looked upon as a necessary chore, but rather an opportunity to share with God a portion of what he has blessed us with.

EFT/ACH Giving

Technology used wisely can make life so much easier.  Many of us are paying our monthly bills electronically and no longer carry cash or checks on a regular basis.  For some, a check to the church is one of the few that we write.  In order to accommodate the current banking atmosphere, Meadowbrook is making it possible for you to give your offerings electronically.

What is EFT Giving?

Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) is a banking transaction that allows you to have your contributions transferred directly from your personal account at your financial institution to Meadowbrook’s bank account without writing a check.

What is the advantage of EFT Giving?

It saves time.  It saves works.  It simplifies your life.  You can avoid the hassle of writing and remembering checks.  It can also help your consistency and faithfulness in giving.

How is my contribution automatically deducted from my account?

Once you complete an Electronic Funds Transfer Agreement form, the church office will authorize Meadowbrook’s bank to request your specified contribution from your financial institution.

When will my contribution be deducted from my account?

Meadowbrook will do EFT transfers on the Monday following the Sunday you specify on your authorization form.  The dollar amount deducted will be the amount you have specified on your form.

Can my contribution be designated to different ministry items?

All EFT transfers will automatically be deposited to Meadowbrook’s General Budget Fund.  In addition, you may designate your contributions to either the Building Fund which goes to reduce the debt on the Education Building and/or to Meadowbrook’s Monthly Missions Emphasis which is determined by the Missions Committee.  Contributions to any other designated areas will need to be made by cash or check.

If I do not write checks, how do I keep my checkbook balance straight?

Since your contribution is made at a pre-established time, you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date.

Without a canceled check, how can I document my contribution?

Your bank statement gives you an itemized list of electronic transfers.  It is your proof of contribution.  The church will also record your gift and send you a record of your contributions at year-end for your tax records.

Is EFT Giving risky?

An EFT transfer is less risky than a handwritten check.  It cannot be lost, stolen or destroyed in the mail.  It has an extremely high rate of accuracy and is easier for the church office to process.

What if I change bank accounts or want to change the frequency or amount of my contribution?

You can update your EFT agreement form (must be in writing) at any time by contacting the church office.

How much does EFT Giving cost?

There is no charge to you or to the church.

What if I try EFT Giving and don’t like it?

You can cancel your authorization by notifying the church office in writing at any time.

How do I sign up for EFT Giving?

You complete an Electronic Fund Transfer Agreement form.  Turn the form and a voided check or deposit slip into the church office.
