Our Mission

Developing fully committed followers of Jesus Christ who will

GLORIFY God in Everything we do

GROW in Christ Every Day

GO with Christ’s Love to Everyone

Our Core Values

Live like Jesus.

Jesus is the living Word of God and when we live like Jesus, people will want to know more about God.

Follow God’s Word.

Jesus reveals himself to us through the Bible, so we aim to saturate our lives with the wisdom and teachings found in the Bible.

Talk with God

To draw closer to God, we must talk with God and listen to God as God speaks to us.  The attitude and action of prayer is essential to everything we do.

Live authentically.

Jesus’ love transforms the whole person.  God does not require perfection from us but desires us to live transparently in obedience to God.

Live in community.

We encourage each other to live life together in small groups so we can encourage, teach, challenge, and love each other as God loves us.

Practice generosity.

God is infinitely generous and calls us to regularly give of our time, talents and resources.

Share God’s love with the world.

It is our responsibility as followers of Jesus to love others by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of people locally and globally.

What Does a Follower of Jesus look like?

These characteristics are present in a person who is trying to be more like Jesus.

  • Read the Bible.  We are changed when our mind and our perspective on life and the world are shaped by the truths we find in the Bible.  (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • Commit to God and God’s ways.  Choosing to follow Jesus means you recognize Jesus is the authority in your life and you set aside your selfish desires to choose the things that are priorities to God (like loving God and loving people).  (Luke 9:23)
  • Serve God and Others.  At times we will set aside our own needs or dreams to meet the needs we see in others.  We choose to love like God loves by meeting physical and spiritual needs of others. (Matthew 25:40)
  • Share Jesus with Others.  Following Jesus is a personal decision, but it cannot be kept private.  As we grow to know Jesus more and more, we will want to share the good news and hope of the gospel message with others. Our desire should be to encourage other people to become followers of Jesus. (1 Peter 3:15)
  • Live our Faith.  We listen to God and try to live our lives in obedience to God’s desire for our lives – we are patient, we are joyful, we are generous, we are loving even when we don’t feel like it.  We can live like this because Jesus lives in us.  Living our faith requires trust in God in all things.  (Galatians 2:20)
  • Seek God Daily.  We cannot grow closer to Jesus without creating space for God in our lives.  This can simply mean talking with God throughout your day and asking God to give you guidance for your daily decisions. (Matthew 6:33)
  • Build Relationships with Other Followers of Jesus.  We are created to be in relationship with other people and we learn so much more about ourselves and God from these intentional relationships. (Acts 2:42)

Steps You Can Take to Help You on Your Journey with Jesus:

Following Jesus is not easy, but it is simple.

Our hope is that all members will join in these five simple practices at Meadowbrook to help them grow closer to Jesus and live more like Jesus.

  • WORSHIP is celebrating God’s presence because we are created to worship God.  Worship is a life live toward God, but we believe worshipping together as the family of God allows up to experience the Holy Spirit in profound ways.  When the people of God worship, we pray, confess, sing, listen and learn.
  • CONNECT to other people who are broken because we need each other to provide encouragement, teaching, discipline and love.  We provide small group opportunities for members to nurture healthy relationships as they grow closer to Jesus.
  • GIVE because everything belongs to God.  A characteristic of followers of Jesus is generosity.  We practice this generosity with our financial resources and our time and talents both inside and outside the church.
  • SERVE because the church is called the body of Christ and all parts are needed for the church to fully function.  God has given you unique gifts and talents that are essential in helping our church share God’s love and care with the world.
  • GO because Jesus clearly told us that if we love Him, we are to go and tell others about God’s forgiveness.  We are to share the good news of Jesus Christ not only in our words, but also in our actions.  We strive to create opportunities for our members to serve those in our community, in our country and in our world.

The Great Commandment

"Jesus said, 'Love the Lord our God with all your heart...soul...and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Matthew 22:36-40 (NIV)

The Great Commission

"Jesus said, 'Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.'"

 Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

OUR HISTORY

Meadowbrook  began in  1954  when  Waco  Baptist Association, now  Waco  Regional  Baptist  Network, purchased  land on the corner of Darden Drive and Old Robinson Road for a future church site.  Then in 1958, the Meadowbrook Baptist Mission held a two-week tent revival in  conjunction  with  First  Baptist  Church of Robinson.  Following the revival 17 members for the newly-formed church were received.

Once the church was formed, the meetings began to take place in a wide variety of places.  Meadowbrook met in tents, storage buildings, schools and homes.  Finally, in 1959 the first building was in place where Meadowbrook Baptist Church stands today.  On September 27, 1959, the mission was constituted and became Meadowbrook Baptist Church which included 63 members.

God has blessed Meadowbrook with growth in people and buildings. God is given all the glory and we are thankful for the faithful leadership of Meadowbrook’s people, staff and pastors who have led through the years.

Meadowbrook has the reputation of being a very healthy, missional  and  family-oriented church.   The desire of Meadowbrook is to truly be a biblically-grounded, ministry-centered, community-reaching church.  We will continue to create new ministries to reach our communities for Christ.

WHAT TO EXPECT

WHEN YOU ARRIVE ON CAMPUS…

Look for the Visitor parking lot or Visitor spaces just off of Old Robinson Road.  Our main parking lot is located in the back.  Once inside, you will be welcomed by our greeters who will direct you and your family to the right place as well as answer any questions you may have.  In addition, they will offer to show you our adult classrooms or our student/children's ministry areas.  We will have a hot cup of coffee ready for you.

IF YOU HAVE A BABY…

You are welcome to bring your infant into the worship center.  We encourage you to take advantage of our supervised nursery with skilled and loving caregivers.   More information is available at the Welcome Desk in the Children's Building.

IF YOU HAVE PRESCHOOL AGED CHILDREN (up to Kindergarten age)...

They will love being a part of our Preschool Sunday School at 9:45.  You are welcome to bring them with you to worship or they can remain in Worship Care at 11:00 where loving caregivers will continue to provide Christ centered care and activities for them.

AS YOU ENTER THE WORSHIP CENTER…

Ushers are available to assist you should you have any questions or special needs regarding seating or other general questions. Should special needs arise during the service, feel free to go to an usher to request assistance.  As a first-time visitor to Meadowbrook, you are our guest, and we would like to get to know you.  We don't expect you to contribute in the offering but would be grateful to know how to contact you.  Please consider completing our Welcome Card and placing it in the offering plate; otherwise, feel free to sit back and relax as the offering plate is passed.

DURING EACH SERVICE...

We welcome our first time guests. We won't point you out, put you on the spot or call you to the front. We will provide you with any information you need and we just ask that you fill out and turn in our welcome card to help us keep record of your visit with us.

OUR WORSHIP SERVICES...

At Meadowbrook, we offer two opportunities for you to worship - 9:45 AM and 11:00 AM. Our 9:45 AM service is a traditional style of worship using accompaniment from piano, drums and choir. Our 11:00 service has contemporary music led by our Worship Team. These services use modern music recreated in a way to allow the songs of our faith to be sung in a way that is relevant to today’s society.  The sermon, delivered by Pastor Cary is relevant, creative and charging.  In all of our worship services, our main focus is that you would come in and be a part of worshiping God, singing to the audience of one.

AFTER THE SERVICE…

You are invited to meet the pastor at our Connection Corner in the back of our Worship Center.  Be sure to stop by our Welcome Center.  We look forward to answering any questions you may have.
